Fox-Bane: Chapter 13We got to the top of the mountain, you could see the station lights down below but no sea
a thick fog was rolling in."Pel's got the fog light on." Patty smiled patting her chestnut pony."Randy take them slowly downward, if they fright they'll fall off the cliffs!" Trish called Randy called back."Ok, is there a holding yard down there?""Yep, it's dead on the path.""Right, how are you doing with the cart Steph?""Ok, it'll be hard downhill but!" she called."Right, Fox, Chook ease up on the back take the pressure off!"I looked at Raaka, he had my fluffy musher's hat on and a bit of fringe was flopped over one eye.I had one with ears that Meggi gave me as a joke. It kept my ears and neck warm.Seiko sneezed; he hated being out in the cold too long."I'm gonna stop and put Seiko's rug on!" I shouted. Raaka stopped but I reluctantly told him to keep going. I took Seiko's saddle and saddlebags off and put his rug across his back. Then put the saddle and my pack back on. By then
The Dragon's CastleIts really dark. Although I can see the dark outline of the huge stone walls. I'm here because I've always wanted to see the castle at night. I don't think theres anyone else here, Its too cold for most people but I don't mind the cold.My torch is still working, Just. I can see bits of rock strewn around as I'm walking up to the gates.Holy cow these gates are huge, at least four times my hight. I carefully push one open. There is a loud groaning creak as the gate swings open. then there is silence. the wind is blowing off the churning ocean below the cliffs only meters away.I cautiously step into the castle, scanning the inside with my torch. there are lots of stone pillars and even an old rusted siut of armour. It smells damp and dusty, although my nose is stinging from the cold. There are creepy stone carvings everywhere, watching every step i take with their glaring, hollow eyes. I wonder who carved them?there is one of something like a creepy looking lion holding a sheild, guar
Fox-Bane: Chapter 12I couldn't sleep, I kept hearing things. Sometimes there would be chuckles coming from behind the eerie stone building in the darkness or even a twig snapping in the distance. I knew it was just an animal but somewhere in the back of my mind shouted Fox Boy.Then I heard a shod horse moving across the rocks in the dark bush. I heard someone walk up behind me. All I could hear was my heart pounding in my throat ready to whirl around and punch his face in. my head was screaming and all my muscles where tensed.I let out a small yelp when someone touched my shoulder."Shhh, it's ok." A voice breathed. I let out a sigh of relief."Don't scare me like that!" I grunted. Raaka lay down behind me and put his arms around my waist."Sorry" he said softly"Scare me like that again and I'll kick you where it hurts" I growled."I could hear it too

Fox-Bane chapter 11"Magpie, get them stragglers, we're coming up to the third mob!" Barked Randy. Meggi raced off after a cow that had broken away from the main mob, she wheeled Bundi in front of the cow which trotted back to the mob."Road-Kill, where's our first stop?" Trish asked."At the base of the mountain" He muttered."Hopefully Raaka and Phoenix will meet us there." He added. Steph watched the muster from the cart. She was wary that the bandits would follow Phoenix and Raaka and hoped they where ok.Who am I kidding? Raa will protect Phoenix. Steph thought and looked up at the mountain in the distance.Raaka and I where about halfway when we stopped to rest. The weather forecast was meant to be cold today, a little warmer tomorrow then warm and sunny for the rest of the week.It wasn't cold, it was freezing. Raaka had no shirt on and looked very cold."Here, wear this." I threw him my fleece jacket."Thanks, I hope it warms up." He shivered. I was checking my saddle bags."
Fox-Bane Chapter 10 :Part 2: Beneth a Demon's MaskThat morning Raaka "woke" me up; he ran past my bedroom then came back and patted my shoulder."C'mon sleepy" he said. I'd stuffed pillows under my sheets. He slowly walked in."Phoenix?" he peeped. I forced myself not to laugh. Silently I crept up behind him. I'd been outside putting things away and it was freezing! I bear-hugged him and slipped my hands up his shirt."Geez your hands are freezing!" he gasped, gently grabbing my wrists."Well I've been out in the cold all morning. What do you expect?" I said."I got the note!" I whispered.Bring the cattle to the broken windmill in the North East of your property. OR ELSE."Let's go get the masks and stuff" he said. As we walked out the front door, it looked like a scene from The Man from Snowy River; All the horses but Mungo, Seiko and Sheika where tacked up and ready to ride. I went into the shed and pulled out the masks. Raaka had the dragon, Steph had the lion and I had the demon bird. We each had a black cloak and hood.I put min
